A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER

A smiling woman with blonde curly hair sitting on a white armchair, wearing a white blazer, beige top, black pants, and nude heels, in a room with a large green plant and a black and white patterned rug.

First, welcome — truly. If you’re here exploring this internship, it already tells me something meaningful about you. This program isn’t just about checking a box for school; it’s about who you’re becoming as a future professional.

My hope is that your time with us offers a real, grounded sense of what it means to show up for others in this work — not with perfection, but with presence, curiosity, and compassion. created this internship because I believe real learning comes from experience, mentorship, and exposure — the kind of growth that happens beyond textbooks. The counseling and wellness fields are rich, complex, and deeply human, and I wanted to offer a space where students can see how a practice truly works through a trauma-informed, relational, and nervous-system-centered lens.

Across my years working with individuals, couples, families, and systems, I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear and that safety, connection, and attunement shape everything we do. As a therapist, supervisor, and educator, my purpose is to help people reconnect with themselves — and to support the next generation of professionals in doing this work with integrity and heart.

At NEO Mind Body Collab, our three branches — counseling, wellness, and professional training — are designed to work together to support whole-person healing. This internship is your invitation into that ecosystem, where you can see how each part connects and why our integrated approach matters.

Here, you’ll learn the art and science behind this field — not just what we do, but why we do it. You’ll be supported, challenged, and encouraged to reflect on your own growth as you begin shaping your voice and identity as a professional.

I’m honored you’re here and excited to welcome you into a community that values humility, authenticity, and meaningful learning.

Hey there,

- Dani Proffitt, M.Ed., LPCC-S, MFT

My journey with Pathways wasn’t traditional as psychology internships can be difficult to come by, so I took the initiative to reach out to local private practices and offer my help. I was incredibly fortunate to be offered a unique opportunity that was created just for me. I’m beyond grateful to Dani Proffitt for taking me under her wing and giving me the chance to learn about the field of mental health counseling in such a hands-on way.

Over the summer, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand what the day-to-day life of a therapist looks like. Through conversations with Dani and the rest of the Pathways team, I learned about the rewards and challenges of the profession, the realities of graduate school, and the complexities of running a private practice. I was also fortunate enough to observe supervision sessions, which not only exposed me to clients’ stories but also gave me a deeper understanding of the thought processes that goes into treating complex cases. Overall, I have gained valuable insight that will stick with me as I continue my journey in becoming a licensed professional clinical counselor.

This experience has solidified and inspired my passion for the field and I am excited to say my journey with Pathways is far from over! Thank you to everyone on the team who has contributed to my amazing experience this summer and a special thank you to Dani for giving me this amazing opportunity and for always being there to help along my journey.

The opportunity to intern at Pathways has given me invaluable hands-on experience as an undergraduate which deepened my passion and excitement for the field. It was thrilling to come into an environment where everyone was vastly knowledgeable and passionate about the field and the work they do. The team at Pathways cares deeply for their clients through striving to provide the best comprehensive care, and it was inspiring to gain behind the scenes experience of their process to achieve this goal. Through this internship, I was able to learn all the elements involved with running a successful private practice and its daily operations. Additionally, I gained expansive knowledge about case management through observing supervision sessions or speaking with members of the Pathways team. My curiosity was not only encouraged but met with enthusiastic answers from all members of the team. The environment fostered at Pathways is supportive, positive, and an exceptional opportunity to learn and grow as someone pursuing a future career in the field. The lessons and experiences I gained from my time at Pathways is something I will deeply treasure as I continue my professional journey in the field. This internship provided me not only valuable knowledge, but also with a heightened excitement to enter the field in the future. I cannot recommend this opportunity enough to those who are interested in learning about the field and wish to gain a front row seat to the process of helping others one client at a time.

As someone about to begin doctoral training in clinical psychology, this internship was invaluable in preparing me for the path ahead. Observing supervision sessions, participating in mentorship meetings, and engaging in conversation with the amazing team of clinicians here at Pathways helped me develop a better understanding of clinical decision-making, early practicum and career experiences, as well as opportunities for continued professional development beyond graduate school. Being involved in administrative and behind-the-scenes work also gave me a greater appreciation for the day-to-day operations of a private practice, and the amount of coordination and effort that goes into supporting client care. This experience has ultimately left me feeling more excited and confident about the next steps in my education. I will carry with me all that I have learned, and I hope to grow into a clinician who reflects the same level of thoughtfulness and intentionality I witnessed during my time here!

I have learned so much throughout my time at NEO MindBody Collab. I have learned not just about therapy in a professional setting but I learned a lot about my own personal boundaries and limitations as well. I have grown through this experience, and I have found other areas to develop as well. Everyone here is extremely kind, welcoming, and ready to answer any question you may bring their way.

My time here has given me a better idea of what it means to be a clinician and understanding of how a private practice operates. It has also helped bring me clarity regarding how I want to approach my career and helped me understand how to turn my goals into action.

As someone who has been interested in Psychology and counseling since high school, interning at Pathways gave me the opportunity to take my interests, questions, and excitements to the next level. From answering calls, scheduling clients, conversing with the amazing team of clinicians, and diving into the world of Clinical Psychology from a private practice standpoint--Pathways was there to fill it all in. Simple conversations with the practicing clinicians can open doors and spark ideas and interests one may not know they have yet! In fact, after having a conversation with one of the clinicians Morgan about her path in working in both private practice and hospitals, it solidified my goal of doing that as well. Just hearing what her schedule is like and what she gets to do at both of her jobs excited me so much and felt perfect for what I was looking for. This internship made me so excited for my career in counseling and allowed me to picture myself doing this. I am so appreciative for my time at Pathways and couldn't be more grateful or reccommend this experience enough. Dani and the whole Pathways team are supportive, kind, have wisdom and let you take risks, make mistakes, and try new opportunities all within the field of Clinical Psychology and private practice.

During my time at Pathways, I was encouraged to become more flexible, professional, and open-minded. In my administrative role, I encountered a variety of situations that required me to adapt quickly and make thoughtful decisions in the moment. Through these experiences, I learned what it truly means to balance compassion with efficiency in a practical, real-world setting. By listening to the therapists' experiences and asking questions throughout my time in the office, I also gained valuable insight into the day-to-day realities of being a therapist. Both the hands-on experience and the relationships I built with the therapists helped me develop a deeper understanding of therapy, professionalism, and personal growth. I am grateful for the lessons I learned and the opportunity to be part of the Pathways team.

This summers internship program was so much different than I would have expected, in the best way possible! This program was so unique because holistic training is not something society has seen as much as other aspects of therapy. Being in this environment taught me so many different perspectives with how therapy can be approached. I met so many impactful people that have also became my friends and made me comfortable to ask questions. This internship taught me that it's okay to feel small in a big environment. However, as an intern, this process is so important for our future career! I will forever be grateful for this experience I had this summer!
